Trimming In Public Post 7

The Trimming In Public series is a way for me to share my RSS feeds with you, while at the same time, cleaning the list out for feeds that are dead or no longer of interest. Hopefully, you’ll find something new along the way that you’d like to add to your subscriptions.

Trimming in Public 7

121. OSS Ramblings – I have no idea who Tony Maro is, but based on the site, I’m going to assume I followed during the 2 weeks that I cared about Maemo.

Determination: ELIMINATE

122. Palmsolo – this WAS the personal blog of Matthew Miller, aka Palmsolo. He appears to have abandoned it, which is unfortunate.

Determination: ELIMINATE

123. Pat Phelan – Pat’s a serial entrepreneur, currently launching Trustev. It’s not really my thing (something about secure payments or something) but Pat’s a really smart guy. Good one to keep an eye on if you’re into that industry.

124. Phenomena in the days of Philip – Another one I haven’t a clue how I found or why I would have been a reader. Appears to focus on Jolla, which leads me to believe he used to cover Maemo-related stuff.

Determination: ELIMINATE

125. Phil Schwarzmann – Phil used to lead the S60 blogs and the Voice of S60 podcast, among other things at Nokia. He’s got a new personal blog, though this one has his name on it, so I don’t know why he wouldn’t have just moved everything here. He hasn’t updated since 2012.

126. PhoneScoop – Phonescoop’s comments section is where I got my mobile start. I was active in the comments, then ‘graduated’ to HowardForums, and the rest is history. Their device coverage is among the most in-depth of any site, particularly with specs. I know of many retailers who rely exclusively on Phonescoop for phone details, sometimes even over the manufacturer’s sites.

Determination: KEEP

127. Photos from Rcadden’s Contacts – Photos posted to Flickr by my friends. Basically no one I know uses Flickr anymore, so I’ve no use for this.

128. Pints and Steins – Jason and I go way back to Barcelona for Nokia World, and we’ve been friends ever since. He runs other blogs, but this one was supposed to be over various craft brews that he discovered. Unfortunately, Jason sucks at blogging in more than one place, so this hasn’t been updated in over a year.

129. Presentation Zen – I suck at PowerPoint. Like, REALLY bad. However, I do have aspirations of doing more speaking engagements in my career, so I subscribe to Presentation Zen. They do a good job of highlighting tips/tricks/best practices.

Determination: KEEP

130. ProBlogger – If you’re a blogger, or even just a content creator of any kind, you need to read ProBlogger (even if you’re not a pro). Seriously, though it’s gotten a bit commercial lately, the content is solid gold. Read it.

Determination: KEEP

131. Protected Void – This is another dead Maemo blog.

Determination: ELIMINATE

132. Pure Photography – My adoptive mother while I was in college, Debbie has since launched a photography business, and she does awesome.

Determination: KEEP

133. Python and More – Sigh. Yet another Maemo-focused blog.

Determination: ELIMINATE

134. Rajsingh.org – I don’t recall when or where I met Raj, but his blog is primarily focused on apps, development, coding, etc.

Determination: ELIMINATE

135. Real-Time Marketing Sucks – RTM (Real-Time Marketing) is the recent practice of brands attempting to take advantage of a current event/hot topic and insert themselves into it on Twitter primarily (but also Facebook, to some extent). This tumblr calls out the more sucky ones, which is hilarious.

Determination: KEEP

136. RickyCadden.com – This is the feed to this site. Seems a bit self-centered to subscribe to my own feed, but it’s the best way for me to see how it looks in an RSS reader, and make sure everything’s publishing OK.

Determination: KEEP

137. Rita El Khoury’s Blog – My former partner Rita’s blog. The feed appears to be broken. If you don’t already, follow Rita on Twitter. She’s amazing. And a Dr.

Determination: ELIMINATE

138. Rocket-in-Bottle – This appears to be a Google Reader replacement called NewsSquares. Looks dumb.

Determination: ELIMINATE

139. Rodrigo Vivi – Just another dead Maemo blog.

Determination: ELIMINATE

140. Rugge Themes – This was a great site for Symbian themes at one point. They appear to have shifted development over to Android, focused on the Go Launcher app.
