Trimming In Public Post 2

The Trimming In Public series is a way for me to share my RSS feeds with you, while at the same time, cleaning the list out for feeds that are dead or no longer of interest. Hopefully, you’ll find something new along the way that you’d like to add to your subscriptions.

Trimming In Public 2

21. Counting Crows News – I’ve always been a huge Counting Crows fan, and I love their music. That being said, their online presence kinda sucks – from their Twitter/Facebook through to this feed. When I need a fix, I’ll just pull them up in whatever music service I’m currently using.

Determination: ELIMINATE

22. CreaBros Oy – Seeing as how this is a Finnish domain and author name, I’m going to guess it’s an ex-Nokian that I used to follow. The site hasn’t been updated in nearly a year, and I can’t figure out the connection.

Determination: ELIMINATE

23. Croozeus.com – Croozeus was a team of Python developers for S60. The site was run by one of the authors of “Python on Symbian” but since Symbian and S60 are both dead, so is this site.

Determination: ELIMINATE

24. CyanogenMod – Official feed of the CyanogenMod blog. CyanogenMod is the top 3rd party ROM for Android devices, the one I’m usually running on my phone. I’ll keep this feed to be updated on news from the platform.

Determination: KEEP

25. Daily Blog Tips – I’ve got no idea why this was in my feeds, or how it even got there.

Determination: ELIMINATE

26. DailyMobile – One of the top mobile blogs out there from one of ‘the little guys’ (and I use that as a term of endearment). Several of my old blogging friends write there, but it’s mostly news I get elsewhere (and great wallpaper roundup posts that I never read).

Determination: ELIMINATE

27. Darla Mack – Darla Mack was my blogging mentor when I started my first blog nearly 10 years ago. She basically left the Internet for a few years, and while she’s resurfaced recently, it’s all on social, so I don’t expect to see her pick this up anytime soon.

Determination: ELIMINATE

28. Dhanusaud Symbian Arts – When I used to run Symbian-Guru.com, I was contacted by a new Symbian theme builder named Dhanusaud, who’d created a custom ‘Symbian-Guru’ theme for S60 phones. It was amazing, and I loved it. This was his site, but it looks deserted now, like so many other Symbian-related destinations.

Determination: ELIMINATE

29. Dinnermesa – This is the blog of my childhood friends Beth and Chad. A while ago, they decided to adopt, and ended up adopting a family of 5 kiddos from Colombia, so they setup a blog to document the process. I learn something from every post, as they’re experiencing parenting for the first time across 5 different ages.

Determination: KEEP

30. Disqus – Pretty self-explanatory, this is the blog of the Disqus commenting platform (which I use here). I get whatever updates I need from their tweets and several other feeds, though.

Determination: ELIMINATE

31. Doc Mobile 2.0 – Dustin ‘Docmobile’ Randall was a Fort Worth-based Nokian that I definitely consider a friend. Unfortunately, this blog appears to be deserted, but fortunately, Dustin posts more frequently on Facebook and Twitter, so I just follow him there.

Determination: ELIMINATE

32. Dronestagram – I recently blogged about this site – it’s an EXCELLENT resource for fun photos taken by drones, and I love seeing them in my feeds.

Determination: KEEP

33. Engadget – Engadget. Do you really need any more description than that? Despite the recently rotating staff, it’s still some of the best tech coverage on the Internet, and I’ve been a reader since before I knew what a blog was.

Determination: KEEP

34. Engage Your World – This is a blog setup by my church to document the many ways and experiences of our churchmembers engaging our world, outside of the church building. It’s never updated, though, and appears to be abandoned.

Determination: ELIMINATE

35. Epicenter – This is the RSS feed for Wired. It’s not even a partial feed, really – more like headlines, and I subscribe to the magazine but never read it, either. This just junks up my reader, frankly.

Determination: ELIMINATE

36. everythingWM – This appears to be a blog about Windows Mobile, now called Windows Phone. I have a couple of other Windows Phone blogs that I plan to keep, and I don’t know who the author is.

Determination: ELIMINATE

37. Ewan Spence’s All New Musings – Ewan is one of the contributors to the AllAbout sites, and he also contributes at Forbes.com. He’s an all around awesome guy, and I get to see him annually at SXSW. While most of his stuff, frankly, isn’t that appealing to me, Ewan is one of the most prolific content-creators that I know, and he does a dang good job of it. He’s worth having in my RSS reader for his honest opinions and the occasional nugget of awesome.

Determination: KEEP

38. Experience: The Blog – To be honest, I’m not sure where this one came from. It appears to be a blog about using social media professionally. It’s a bit sparse, but he has a deep history, and is updated regularly. Still, can’t remember the last time I read something there.

Determination: ELIMINATE

39. Fast Wonder: Online Community Management – I met Dawn at SXSW when she was a community manager at Intel, I believe. She keeps this page updated about as often as I update my blog, and she’s a REALLY smart girl, so I’ll definitely keep it.

Determination: KEEP

40. Father Apprentice – I’m a new father (with another one on the way) so like anything else, I gathered a bunch of resources that would help me be a better dad. However, this site hasn’t been updated since 2011. Gone.

Determination: ELIMINATE.
