Closing The Book At RadioShack

There comes a time when you have to choose between turning the page and closing the book.

RadioShack TowersToday is my last day at RadioShack Corporation. I’ve resigned to accept the position of Social and Digital Content Manager at TripCase.

In the years that I’ve been a part of the social team at RadioShack, we’ve done some simply amazing things, including growing our social audience to nearly 4 million fans across 8 different accounts. We’ve launched new presences on platforms such as Instagram and Google+, and we’ve made HUGE strides towards assimilating a social mindset throughout the entire company, both in the corporate office and in our nearly 4,200 stores across the country. I’ve run 10+ Twitter Promoted Trends, planned and executed a social campaign to support a Super Bowl commercial, and joined the community of DIY enthusiasts at Maker Faire. I’ve also had the pleasure of working with some of the most talented folks I’ve ever met, and some of the best agencies around. I’ve had a 3D printer on my desk to play with.

Being a Fort Worth native, RadioShack has always been a part of my life. When I was a kid, my sister took ice skating lessons at the Tandy Center. In high school, I had several friends who worked in the local RadioShack store. In college, I spent a few years slinging phones in the RadioShack-owned booth at the local Sam’s Club. I sincerely hope that RadioShack will continue to be a part of Fort Worth into the future, as well.

TripCase

However, it’s time for a new challenge. I’m excited about the new opportunity that I have at TripCase, and the opportunity to learn an entirely new industry. TripCase, for the uninitiated, is a world-class mobile travel planning app. It’s available on iOS, Android, and the mobile web, and allows you to easily consolidate all of your travel plans into a single place.

I’ve always said that technology should enrich and enable your real life, and with TripCase, I’ll have a chance to work on a project that does just that. It’s quite brilliant, and I’m pumped to be able to engage with travelers across social and digital and continue to build on the foundation that’s been laid by my predecessor(s).

Regular readers needn’t worry – you’ll continue to find the same honest thoughts about various topics here on RickyCadden.com. As always, the views and opinions expressed here are my own and don’t reflect those of my employer, which will soon be TripCase and Sabre Holdings, Inc.
